Skiplevel was founded by a former Amazon engineer who saw PMs struggle in technical conversations — and set out to create the role-specific training they’d never been given.

Hi, I’m Irene, the Founder of Skiplevel.

During my 10 years as a full-stack engineer at Amazon and other companies, I saw how often PMs struggled in technical conversations — not because they weren’t capable, but because they never had the proper training.

After mentoring a PM on my team and seeing how it transformed her confidence, our collaboration, and ultimately the product, I felt inspired to build something bigger.

That’s how Skiplevel was born.

Since then, Skiplevel has trained over 600 PMs and evolved through continuous feedback to meet the demands of today’s fast-changing technical landscape.

Skiplevel is the program I wish PMs had been given from the start — practical, role-specific technical foundations that make engineering conversations clearer and product decisions stronger.

For PMs, being technical doesn’t mean shipping production code. It means understanding how systems are designed, where complexity lives, and how technical choices affect scope, timelines, and risk.

Skiplevel focuses on the kind of technical understanding PMs actually need — not syntax, but systems, tradeoffs, and real-world decision making.

The world is becoming more technical. Product teams need to keep up.

Modern product teams are expected to make decisions in increasingly complex technical environments. But in most organizations, product managers are asked to lead these decisions without the technical foundations to do so confidently.

Skiplevel gives PMs the skills hiring managers are really looking for, without requiring them to become engineers.

"By the end, I felt confident in my knowledge of technical literacy.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Skiplevel program to anyone seeking to enhance their technical literacy as a PM."
